Project Description

Construction Technology Training Institute (CTTI) was established in 1986 under the Japanese grant scheme to serve as a training and educational center for engineers in road maintenance machinery. CTTI with the cooperation of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) initiated 5 years Third Country Training Course on Operation and Maintenance of Construction Machinery, which provides training to about 300 engineers from neighboring developing countries. To investigate the Program's relevance, efficiency, effectiveness, impact, and sustainability, JICA Pakistan engaged the consultants to evaluate the program.

The firms employed a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods to evaluate performance of the training program in terms of planning, management of training program, the usefulness of course contents, training processes, contribution towards building knowledge and skills of the participants, and overall effectiveness of the training. Quantitative information was collected through a semi-structured self-administered questionnaire while semi-structured questionnaires were used for qualitative information collection. One Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was conducted with participants of the 15th training program. The firms compiled and analyzed the data in-house and used the findings generated from qualitative and quantitative for the recommendations.
