Project Description

UNDP's Strengthening Electoral and Legislative Processes (SELP) implemented a four-week Voter Education (VE) campaign between 29 April and 30 May 2015 focusing on increasing women's voter turnout in the local government elections in 24 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The campaign was structured around two objectives promoting awareness among women on how to vote and why voting matters and diminishing male resistance to women voting.

Services provided by APEX

For feedback on the campaign, a five-day field of qualitative research was conducted in five districts - Harpur, Hangu, Bannu, Mardan, and Swat. Separate FGDs with men and women were held in five districts along with KIIs with the representatives of the partner organizations. Overall 77 men and women took part in the FGDs. The feedback from the KIIs and FGDs has been broadly prepared to keep in view the two objectives of the campaign i.e. promoting awareness among women on how to vote and why voting matters and diminishing male resistance to women voting.
