Nasir AliWaterAid designed the COVID-19 response project to facilitate the healthcare, quarantine facilities, and marketplaces with handwashing facilities as well as to create awareness among communities about the precautionary measure through ICT and community mobilization campaigns. The project objective is "to decrease the prevalence of COVID-19 in targeted areas through awareness and provision of handwashing facilities in 10 districts". The project starts on April 15 and concludes on July 15 for the above-mentioned interventions. APEX Consulting Pakistan has been engaged by this project to provide progress and performance monitoring of on-ground interventions and activities being carried out by five implementing partners - Mojiz foundation (Islamabad & Rawalpindi), Agahi (Gujrat & Lahore), IRSP (Mardan & Peshawar), BRSP (Quetta & Loralai), and SPO (Karachi & Hyderabad).
The detailed services provided by the firm included the deployment of monitoring teams in the field to monitor the installation of handwashing facilities, construction of public toilets, and awareness campaigns. APEX deployed a total of 10 monitoring teams to cover 10 districts. i.e. Loralai, Quetta, Islamabad, Mardan, Peshawar, Gujrat, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, and Karachi. Each team comprised of 01 male members for the real-time ongoing monitoring services. All field teams were supervised by one field coordinator and one reporting officer. During the monitoring phase, a total of 309 monitoring visits were conducted against various interventions. The interventions included the installation of multiple handwashing facilities and public toilets for hygiene management. APEX field monitoring teams monitored activities in all intervention areas of selected 10 districts of Pakistan. A process of weekly and monthly report submission indicating the situation of installed facilities was delivered to WaterAId.
