Project Description

USAID awarded USD 23 million contracts to the I-LED consortium to implement a post-earthquake reconstruction project in Bagh district of AJK and Mansehra district of KP. The first phase of the program covered emergency relief and reconstruction. In the second phase value chain approach was used to improve the livelihoods of the people by improving the productivity of the existing livelihood chains and by linking these chains to national and international markets.

Services provided by APEX

Two years into the project implementation, the consultants were asked to evaluate the impact of the livelihood programs through qualitative and quantitative means. Household questionnaires were conducted in both the districts (300 total questionnaires) to collect quantitative data and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) were conducted to make a qualitative assessment. Together the information was used to assess the degree of impact the I-LED interventions had on the livelihood of the beneficiary population in the post-earthquake period.
