ssaSave the children (SCI) planned to conduct an Initial Assessment on improving the basic health needs of vulnerable people in six provinces of Afghanistan, focusing on women and girls. The initial assessment was planned to conduct in six provinces of Afghanistan - Faryyab, Jawzjan, Sare Pul, Dai Kundi, Bamyan, and Kandhar. The specific objectives of the assessment were as follows:
To gather data to permit project staff and partners to gain a clear understanding of the current situation with regards to basic health needs, specifically women and children. The baseline study will also collect, organize, and analyze information on the project components to contribute to the design and implementation of a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation system.
The services provided by the firm included research tools development, refinement and translation in local languages (Dari and Pashto), training of field enumerators in each province separately, data collection 84 villages (14 villages in each province), data coding, and entry, data analysis, and baseline report development. Data entry was done by professional data entry operators in the Census Survey Program (CSPro). After data entry frequency tables were generated for cleaning. Data analysis was done using the statistical package (SPSS). The whole exercise was done in close coordination with the client.
