Project Description

The global polio eradication initiatives are going through a critical juncture and progress over the next year largely depends upon conducting high-quality campaigns that will reach every child with multiple doses of OPV. The quality of campaigns can be assessed by the use of a statistically rigorous sampling methodology that will ensure results are reliable and representative. The results of PCM will help facilitate and identify performance gaps to better plan for the subsequent campaign. The National Emergency Operation Centre, with financial support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), technical support from WHO and in coordination with CDC and UNICEF, implemented comprehensive Post-Campaign Monitoring across all districts in Pakistan. APEX Consulting Pakistan is engaged as a third party company that has presences in all districts and previously implemented large-scale surveys implemented the PCM.

Services provided by APEX

APEX has conducted national post-polio campaign monitoring in 167,100, 32, 167, and 100 districts in phases 18, 19, 20, and 21. The main activities for this assignment were collect, compile and enter the data on BCG, polio vaccination, refusals of household, reasons of refusals, mark on the figure, visits of teams, the existence of floppy paralyzes, etc. In phase 18, APEX conducted training at 84 venues/locations across Pakistan in NID. Monitoring teams include 1,670 area field officer/enumerators, zonal field managers, zonal field officers, internal monitors, etc. APEX collected the data through handheld devices and the application was designed on the Open Data Kit (ODK) software. Similarly, APEX Consulting will engage the field staff according to the requirement in phase 19, 20, and 21.
