Project Description

Save the Children (SC) planned to conduct a large scale Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) baseline survey in four districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The overall objective of the baseline survey was to establish a rigorous baseline study with a particular emphasis on collecting data on indicators on a number of levels. The baseline survey was primarily quantitative with the inclusion of some qualitative elements as well. Eight different tools were used to collect information from children (Katchi and Grade One), teachers, school management, parents, and the education system level. First of its kind in Pakistan, Katchi class children were assessed using School Readiness Assessment (SRA) and Grade one students were assessed using literacy and numeracy boost tools.

Services provided by APEX

The services provided by the firm included research tools refinement and translation, training of field enumerators, data collection from 96 primary schools located in four districts, data editing and coding, data analysis report development. Data editing was done by professional researchers and data was entered in Census Survey Program (CSPro). After data entry frequency tables were generated for cleaning. Data analysis was done using the Statistical Package (SPSS). The whole exercise was done in close coordination of the education department KP.
