The Rural Support Network Programme (RSPN) is a network of ten Rural Support Programs (RSPs), collectively the largest group of civil society organizations working with 2.7 million rural households in 105 districts in Pakistan. The RSPs seeks to promote participatory development by assisting communities in setting up participatory community organizations through social mobilization. The objective of this survey is to collect evidence nationwide that how far COs have achieved their objective of being functional, transparent, accountable, and broadly representative.
The services provided by the APEX included a literature review, refinement of the instrument to assess the COs, training of surveyors, field data collection, data management, and analysis, and report development. Our firm mobilized and trained 30 field enumerators and field supervisors including female surveyors. Ten teams were deployed in 19 districts of Pakistan to assess 544 COs (272 Male COs and 272 Female COs) fostered by 08 RSPs (AKRSP, BRSP, BGTI, NRSP, PRSP, SRSO, SRSP, and TRDP). Results were compiled using CSPro and analysis was done using SPSS. Preliminary research findings were disseminated with the Study Steering Committee. The firm also worked with the representative of the Steering Committee to chart a future course of action to make the COs, numbering more than one hundred thousand, operationally more effective.
