ssaMercy Corps’ four-year programme Saving Mothers and Newborns in Communities (SMNC) was seeking the services of a consulting firm to develop a five-year Mother Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) strategy for Balochistan. Its aim is to focus on better MNCH service delivery in Balochistan. The SMNC is working with the Balochistan government’s Department of Health (DoH) for improving the health status of women and children.
APEX provided the services and includes: Study framework development, Secondary research report development data collection tools, trainings of enumerators, data collection from primary and secondary sources, analysis, triangulation and report writing. APEX deployed 12 field teams for primary data collection and a same team for qualitative data collection in Quetta, Loralai, Sibi, Jaffarabad, Lasbella, Gawadar. Data was collected from RHCs, BHUs, THQ and DHQ hospitals, Mothers, CMW, INGOs and NGOs. Reporting was done in two parts first was secondary research report and second rapid assessment report. The findings of Rapid Assessment report were presented to the key stakeholders. Finally the Complete five year MNCH strategy was developed and presented to key stakeholders in a workshop.
