APEX CONSULTING PAKISTAN CONTRIBUTIONS FOR THE EMERGENCY AND REHABILITATION PROGRAMMES OF UNICEF, UNWFP, UN-FAO, USAID, PLAN PAKISTAN, SAVE THE CHILDREN, WORLD VISION AND OTHER DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATIONS.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Summer Monsoons hit Pakistan in July 2022 brining in unexpected heavy rains eventually affecting 116 districts of the country (mostly southern provinces). According to WHO flood reports 33 million people got affected directly or indirectly causing financial losses in millions of US Dollars. The devastation caused by the floods in 2022 is 1.65 times intense when compared with the 2010 floods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Health care providers in public and development sector are already engaged in disease threats\/spread of COVID-19, Typhoid Measles, HIV, Cholera, Leishmaniosis. With this new scenario, increase in water borne and water related disease is foreseen in coming months. Need of the hour is to help the country in assessing on-ground needs and gap identification to streamline relief and recovery operations (healthcare, school facilities, livelihood requirements (agriculture and livestock), and other community infrastructure). A larger number and span of monitoring and evaluation studies would be required for emergency relief and rehabilitation of affected people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n APEX Consulting Pakistan, with its outreach throughout the country, has been very active in supporting public sector and development organizations in their emergency, relief and repatriation works. During 2010 floods numerous monitoring and evaluation studies were conducted to assess damage in terms of financial loss and compensation, strategies and cost of rehabilitation, extent of lost lives & livestock. These floods affected more than 20 million people in 78 districts where death toll reached 1,980, 1.6 million houses were destroyed. APEX field monitors helped track UNICEF logistics cycle from UNICEF warehouse to implementing partners (IP) warehouse. APEX monitored the activities of HANDS, SAFWCO, SCOPE, HOPE, NRSP, TRDP and EDOs in both South and North hubs of Sindh. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n APEX research, monitoring and evaluation practice aims to improve the performance of development projects by providing right information to the right decision makers at the right time. A detailed Livelihood Assessment (DLA) was designed to collect data from the 28 most affected districts in order to learn about the recovery patterns, evaluate interventions and understand remaining problems in order to help the government, donors and the NGOs in their future programming. APEX being part of this crucial study, conducted household survey sample of 9,000, supplemented by 250 Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and 8 case studies.
