Short summary of Project

The objective of the detailed livelihood assessment was to refine and where necessary refocus ongoing early recovery programs and projects by building on the gap analysis.  To estimated the likely implications of renewed flooding in 2011 for on-going Early Recovery activities and development of a common Early Recovery rural livelihood and food security baseline for flood affected districts.  The DLA was meant to answer a large number of important questions concerning the impact of assistance so far received by households, the current vulnerability / resilience of livelihoods, and the likely impacts of monsoon flooding in 2011 on recovery.The services provided were provision of support services for a thorough assessment of the impact of 2010 floods on the livelihoods of 28 districts of KPK, Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan and the opportunities and capacity for livelihood recovery at household, community and local economy level.  Key services provided by the firm included i) Provision of one team leader in support to FAO Emergency and Rehabilitation Coordination Unit in Islamabad for the logistic coordination of DLA survey which will be undertaken in the four provinces of KPK, Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan. ii) Provision of four province based support staff for the collection and review of secondary information as relevant for the target districts, technical supervision of the survey teams ;  iii) Provision of technical services for data entry and data analysis services to be performed at central level as well as review and disaggregation / relay of secondary information in support to the 28-districts livelihood zoning to the four respective provinces.  Beside these technical services firm also provided 10 data collection teams and 8 field enumerators, to be embedded in existing teams from FAO and other DLA partners to complement existing capacity.
