Design of Merit and Needs Based Scholarship Program
Short summary of Project
USAID resumed operation in Pakistan in 2002 and one of its first initiatives was to offer scholarships to needy and qualified students in the fields of management sciences and agriculture sciences. The scheme was launched in selected universities of Pakistan for both bachelor and masters level. Our staff researched the academic standards of selected universities, allocated the scholarship amount across the selected universities, selected faculties and selected programs. Estimated the cost of scholarship for bachelor and masters level, devised a mechanism for student selection, and financial arrangement to transfer the scholarship funds from the USAID to the participating universities and finally to the students.
