UNICEF Pakistan started emergency relief response in thematic program areas, that is, Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Health, Nutrition, Education and Child Protection across the country. To assist the field offices in regular monitoring, the emergency response operation, identifying gaps, issues and difficulties faced by women and children and reporting to the field offices on regular basis, UNICEF selected APEX Consulting Pakistan (APEX) as a partner to provide field monitors/reporters working under provincial offices of UNICEF.
The services provided by the firms included development and refinement of instruments to monitor the UNICEF’s implementing partners activities in 20 districts of KPK and six agencies of FATA region. Our firm mobilized and trained 21 monitoring teams consisted of 30 monitors and two civil engineers with experience in program monitoring, reporting, community development social research and civil development works. Field teams used monitoring guidelines and observations to collect information about Health, Water and Sanitation, Education and Child Protection. Bi-weekly monitoring reports were submitted presenting possibilities, gaps and success stories. Daily monitoring updates were also reported to provincial hubs/field offices of UNICEF. APEX also developed a database for all sites monitored and presented on GIS based static maps.
